Tomb Raider (2013 reboot) - Finished
All in all, my Steam stats say I spent around 24 hours playing this game.
And I tell you, all of those hours were awesome!
This Lara Croft is really not the same as the one we met all those years ago.
You feel her growing up since the first scenes and play hours until the very end.
Not only the puzzles are good and make sense. Because if the puzzles are so difficult and don't even make sense to the story that is being told, you sure will forget the game and never finish it.
That's not what happen here. You have not only good story and puzzles but the gameplay is good. The interface is easy to master and the events are well placed and mixed into the scenario and moments of the story.
Yes. The milimetric jumps are no more. But you still have to have some good skills to overcome some of the challenges.
And the achievements are one of those things that will make you come back after finishing the game.
I managed to make a good campain and finished the game with 90% already complete.
The fast travel camps are the best way to travel to specific places so you can collect what you missed the first time around.
You know when a game connects with you and you with the game?
This is one of those examples.
You feel the struggles Lara is facing and you feel like you want to help her until the end.
Back then, when the first Tomb Raider game came out the graphics were something that made us all sigh.
But this one is a feast to the eyes!
Nowadays it seems that what matters the most are the graphics and the gameplay and story are mainly forgotten. Which is bad. And what makes me still play my old PS2 games instead of new ones.
But this one, like I said before have it all.
Terrific graphics!
And even if we're already in the end of 2016 and the game is from 2013, running it and seeing all these beautiful scenarios and lightgames...is priceless.
I nominated this game for a Steam award because it really got a place in my heart.
You should go and try it too. It's on Steam for such a good price that it's a must have on your collection.

Tomb Raider (2013 reboot)
I have the original Tomb Raider game.
I've spent some time saving money so I could buy it. It was expensive! And it was a joy to play!
I never finished it. Yeah..I'm that bad!
So I was a bit sceptical about the remake. We got so used to a Lara Croft, a character we all knew and cherished and then they were making a reboot and turning our world upside down!?
Who is this Lara!?
I usually only buy games when they are on sale and the price tag is under 20€ (around the same cost in dollars).
So when I saw the TR reboot for sale costing...I don't know...I think it was 5€, I got it.
It was my first Steam game.
And when I started playing it...damn! I re-descovered how I love adventure videogames!
I had yet to play this new kind of in-context-adventure videogames. I was used to a kind of gameplay and these new games are a bit different.
You don't get lost that easy, that's a bonus. I thought I'd feel a bit less freedom but no. You still feel like you can discover a lot of things, but still keep in the main story.
And you feel like you're in a true film.
I'm loving re-descovering this type of videogames and also learning all about this new Lara Croft.
She still has similar adventure skills but is less...self-aware of what she is capable of. So we kind of discover along side her what she is and is capable.
Remembering the original game and looking at this one...wooooooow
We travelled really fast in like...20 years...in what concerns computers and videogames. I'm still wide-eyes everytime I play it. The graphics are a pure beauty to the eyes.
And it is always good when the game lets you appreciate the environment. Because some other games are also beautiful but you cannot stop the action and see the surrounds and appreciate them.
Here, in TR, you can.
I love RGPs. It's my favourite type of videogame. So it's always nice when they put some RPG's mechanics into adventure's games.
It's not that you get a better weapon, you kinda feel like you are really able to handle that new weapon.
And the thing that characterized so well the old TR games, their puzzles, it's back.
You get puzzles for the main story but also secret tombs to explore. And even if you get some hints, some helps regarding where to interact with the environment and objects, it's not always easy to understand how all those things go together.
So you still have to think.
The Steam service is cool. I was also not into trying it but it's good. Some of the cool features include being able to take screen shots during the game.
Right now I'm in one of those tomb puzzles that I have to stop and think a bit more. Lets see what comes next.

Breath of Fire III - PSP
I bought the Breath of Fire III for PSP a long time ago. Like many other games it is waiting for me to have some time to dedicate to them.
RPGs need quite the dedication, specially the JRPGs.
If you know the Breath of Fire saga you know the games are a bit similar. I've posted already that I was playing the episode IV of the saga. I finished it and it was one of my favourite moments related to videogames.
The game was truly beautiful.
I hope that the BoF III will have the same or similar great and touching moments like we get in BoF IV.
I just started playing it. And true there is a change from the graphics from BoF III to BoF IV. Even if the PSP is like a portable PS2, the graphics are quite more old school like those from BoF IV for PS1.
But for a portable game is ok. Sometimes you make better with less than ultra extra great graphics.
The story starts too with Ryu and his famous amnesia. That's the easiest and more common way to get as attached to a character. I don't mind.
So, if you'll excuse me, I'll be going to play some Breath of Fire.
